Lyn and I are continuing with the decision we first took in 2015
which was to use the internet to send Christmas and New Year Greetings
to friends wherever they may be in favour of our making an annual donation
to the Cancer Foundation’s Pink Ribbon Appeal
www.pinkribbon.com.au and encourage others to do the same.

We also take this opportunity to let you know what has been happening
in our lives during the past year and welcome the
opportunity to hear from you in the same regard.

It seems such a short time since we sent our last Christmas greetings
that the old cliche  “Hasn’t the year flown” certainly applies to 2018.

In the autumn we took the opportunity to revisit Bright in Victoria's North East
which in our view is the nicest part of Victoria - especially at that time of the year.

Having a "cold one" at the Bright Brewerey
Weather was about as good as one would want with Bright
and the surrounding countryside "picture perfect"

After a long summer and a great autumn we were not at all looking

forward to the colder weather that lay ahead but one thing
we said we would not do is "hibernate"

We had intended upon travelling north to the sunshine for a few weeks
or so when we felt that we have had enough of winter.
However as nothing was planned we stayed at home for what
was a cold winter.  Thinking about next year now
with the Whitsundays prominent in our thinking.

We also took the opportunity to revisit Harrietville (22km from Bright)
and reminisced about the house at 266 Great Alpine Road that we came
oh so close to purchasing way back in 2009 - one of life's few regrets.

A stunning country property that was sold the day before we
went to pay a deposit. Obviously wasn't destined to be.
The one that "got away"

As touched upon when we last posted, eldest grandson Tom returned to
Australia for the purpose of gaining a permanent Swedish Residency
Visa. Amelie came to Melbourne for a couple of weeks in April staying with
Carolyn which gave us the opportunity to get to know her
a little more which we really enjoyed doing.

After some seven months Tom was granted a Swedish residency Visa
following which he returned to Sweden where he now calls home.

Tom and Amelie have a busy time ahead as the apartment they had in Umea has been sold and another purchased near Gothenburg.

Amelie has been transferred
by her law firm to Gothenburg (where both her parents live)  and we wish them both well for whatever the future
holds in store for them.

However having said that we  were very pleased
when we received the news that they will both be back in December,
Amelie for two weeks and Tom for four while he works at the
Portsea Polo where he has become a valuable
member of the polo organising team

It will be great to have them both here for Christmas but after that
who knows when/where we will next be with them.
However irrespective of where they
may be it goes without saying that
"our love and best wishes
will always be with them"

Joe spent six weeks in Europe with a mate. Flew Qantas via Perth
then after a one hour stopover, a 17 hour direct flight to London on
the Qantas Dreamliner. Joe had a great time as one would expect at that age.

Third granddaughter Georgina is a boarder at Trinity College while at
Melbourne University.  Sister Susannah is enjoying her time at MLC.
Anthony's boy's are  both at Trinity Grammar (home of "Brownie")
with Nick in his final year and Tim in year 4.

We have not been to the football at all this year as we are still living
off the Bulldogs great 2016. 2018 was not been a great year for the doggies
so we may have to do that again in 2019 - who knows!!!
